Steady with output, Danish thrashers Demolizer unleash a second album for Post Necrotic Human – determined to prove to the world that they remain firmly in control of accelerated, angry material that contains the right amount bite and melody without compromise to the razor-sharp approach at play. The quartet straddles the lines of old school obliteration and new school energy/ determination – ensuring that this material will melt on impact, cause massive surges in adrenaline upticks, leaving consumers battered yet determined to come back for more.
Expect a boatload of thick, head crushing rhythms, blistering tempos to match, as well as the sandpaper-ish bark of guitarist Ben Radtleff cutting through the proceedings over the course of these ten songs. Often when you think the band will take the accelerator down a notch, it’s only a small tease before the next speedy lead break unfurls (“Fascist State” a prime example). When exploring out of the box terrain, the band throws a longer cut like “Killing a Friend” at the listener, featuring whispering/screaming contrasts, a prominent bass focal point at times against the naturally emotional lyrical content. A power ballad that aligns well with current Evil Invaders material versus what you may have expected from the late 80’s thrash movement. The blending of influences across the Teutonic/North American landscapes allows for some tight, progressive-style rhythms at times, where harmonies build to this ultimate bigger payoff – “The Wheel” and closer “Warmonger” killer songs executing those proper songwriting mechanics. Occasional nods to groove/old school metal appear in more mid-tempo sections of “Saranth”, where drummer Max Petrén Bach Hansen brings in the classic Lombardo-esque cymbal ride hits that established part of Slayer’s sound decades ago.
The natural knowledge of the players within Demolizer continues to expand as the years progress – making Post Necrotic Human probably their most seasoned, fully realized output to date. Hopefully this will elevate these musicians into a healthier, global following – as this is a delight for all ardent thrash followers, past or present.
