Hands Up Who Wants to Die – January 3, 2013 – Whelans, Dublin, IR

Hands Up Who Wants To Die: Taking time out from recording their second album these new songs sound like the logical next step. A continuous rumble of almost machine-made hardcore noise, imagine a factory being powered by Killing Joke-fuelled diesel engines.

Vocalist Barry Lennon jumps from the stage at the beginning, plants the microphone stand in the room’s centre and spends the entire gig pacing, getting in people’s faces, circling with menacing intent. HUWWTD will engage you whether you want to be involved or not. There’s no place to hide.

Support: Wolfbait: Punk attitude and noise terrorism. A deep, immersive, double vocal assault that blends into one awesome, sludging, drone build-up. Snapping drums anchor the whole thing, while the bass locks into a tight, repetitive groove. An awful, horrible scream of sound that bears comparison to Drainland. The sort of sewer infested bilge you have to check out live.
