NACHTMYSTIUM has had a substantial amount of line-up changes and well documented breaks since their inception in 2000. Over the years, the Chigago psychedelic, black metal group featured members of JUDAS ISCARIOT, WOLVHAMMER, CORRECTIONS HOUSE, KRIEG and while there is no statement available from the band, we aren’t all that surprised. Blake Judd, founder and single constant diverted most of his focus to his new project HATE MEDITATION. In between his personal life and slew of projects, he recently pushed at relinquishing last batches of NACHTMYSTIUM merch online to friends and fans at cost.
Though an official statement doesn’t seem to exist online anywhere as someone pulled the plug on the band’s Facebook page, the following update began to surface in early April: “We are sorry to inform you that NACHTMYSTIUM have decided to cancel all their live activities in the foreseeable future. The band has parted ways with their long time lead guitarist, Andrew Markuszewski, and their recording engineer/synth player, Sanford Parker (CORRECTIONS HOUSE). The remaining three band members of Nachtmystium as of today are going to bring the band to a state of hiatus.”
It seems evident in recent interviews Judd has partaken in that NACHTMYSTIUM is not a priority any longer. Judd stated in an interview with Stereogum: “HATE MEDITATION is my main focus currently as NACHTMYSTIUM is on somewhat of a hiatus for the time being,” And although this news does not indicate a permanent breakup, the mysterious dissolution of the band’s social media page has left some fans wondering what’s next.
HATE MEDITATION is set to release an LP entitled “Scars” on May 24.
