So, Inhuman Condition is back with a new offering in their latest studio album Mind Trap. Jeramie Kling (drums, vocals), Taylor Nordberg (guitar) and Terry Butler (bass) are here to deliver album number three in pure metal bliss, guaranteed to jack you up. One thing I truly love is when a record does not waste time. No silly intros or interludes, just wrecking shop and busting heads. And that is exactly what this trio of metal warriors gives us over the course of nine tracks.
From the start of opener “Severely Lifeless” to the one-two of this writer’s favorites in “Godship” and “The Betterment Plan” it’s clear these dudes ain’t messin’ around. That also holds true for “Chaos Engine”, my next standout and favorite. Really, the whole thing’s great, but these were my favorites. The rapid-fire riffing anchors “Recollections Of The Future” and the three players work smoothly in tandem to bring their might down in you like Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. And “Obscurer” hits like the crew putting up new buildings here in my development.
Now I’ve made it my business to touch on the point of not only album openers in the past. But I also am a big believer in the closers. You’ve gotta bring it home, and that is exactly what the guys do with final tune “Science of Discontent.” I mean, talk about finishing strong!
Mind Trap is definitely a winning record from guys who make it look and sound easy. But we all know that is not always the case. Inhuman Condition has truly raised the bar on this one, y’all. Pick up a copy and thank me later.
Standout Tracks: “Godship”, “The Betterment Plan”, “Recollections of the Future”, “Obscurer”.
