The sixth studio album from Swedish death metal trio Furnace Eternally Enthroned keeps the creative train rolling. Man oh man, does this new album strike hard and strike fast Cobra-Kai style. From the jump Rogga Johansson (guitar, vocals) Peter Svensson (bass and backing vocals) and Lars Demoké (drums and percussion) are on a mission: to hit you hard where it hurts.
Welp, mission accomplished. Except what nobody knows is this record is full-on heavy, yeah. But it’s melodic as all get out, which is great, no? The guitars cut killer riffs and bleed you from the forearms. You’ll be mopping up blood for days! So, what do we love about this record? Well, that’s easy. “Island of the Decaying Angel” and “Godsbane” will have you locking the doors and windows praying for safety. Opener “Tyrant’s Reign”” and “Crow Warriors” will kick some ass like a bully on the playground!
Elsewhere, “Beyond the Valley” has that perfect recipe of melodic and heavy. All you gotta do is stir under low heat. “To Fathom the Depths of Night” is the perfect example of what I’ve been saying, and the title track Eternally Enthroned is one that crushes heads repeatedly. When it’s all over you’re gonna be reaching for that repeat button with a quickness. Furnace continues to be very reliable in the execution of this style of death metal. It’d behoove you to get it with a quickness!
