PENTAGRAM End Search For New Guitarist

Wednesday, 24th April 2013

Legendary doom masters PENTAGRAM has revealed that Matt Goldborough will be the band’s new permanent guitarist, after months of searching and hundreds of applicants from around the world in the process.

Goldborough is a Philadelphia based musician and having played in a multitude of groups, Goldsborough is most known his time in the acclaimed Philadelphia rock band, THE GREAT UNKNOWN.  Well versed in many genres of music, Matt’s experience outside of the heavy metal realm provides a new, refreshing method to this genre-defining band. His style beckons back to the origins of heavy metal itself where heavy blues and psychedelic rock guitarists pioneered the genre in an attempt to harden rock and roll. Precisely what Bobby Liebling and the original PENTAGRAM line up did back in 1971.

Matt debut’s with PENTAGRAM, rounded out by Bobby Liebling on vocals, Greg Turley on bass guitar and Sean Saley on drums, was at the sold out show at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY on April 16. If that gig wasn’t enough of a gem, the band performed songs not heard live in over 40 years.  Together, the band played ‘Be Forewarned’ and many other nostalgic PENTAGRAM classics inspired by a demand from fans. Live video of ‘Be Forewarned’ and Goldborough’s debut can be viewed below via Youtube.
