OBSCURA Drummer Hannes Grossman Working On Solo Debut

OBSCURA/BLOTTED SCIENCE drummer HANNES GROSSMANN will release his first solo album, The Radial Covenant, in December. He’s set up a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com.
In regards to the new album, Grossmann reveals: “For almost every release I worked with Relapse Records and they were always great, generous and supportive. Nevertheless I decided to set up a crowdfunding campaign for this album simply because in times of declining record sales it doesn’t make sense for a small artist to work with a record label. My own solo effort most likely won’t reach the record sales necessary to cover the costs. I rather thought that maybe those people who’ll buy (and always bought) our records no-matter-what could be the ones to help me and thus take immediate advantage themselves. Crowdfuning is the perfect way to connect with fans and having full artistic freedom at the same time.
The music on the album sounds a lot like my band OBSCURA but that’s just how I compose. The reason not to release it as an OBSCURA album is simple: OBSCURA is a band, which means that four peole work together and create music as a collective. If I write 45 minutes of music on my own, it has to be a solo record. It’s probably gonna take another year until a new OBSCURA album will see the light of day, so here’s your chance to make time pass more quickly.”
