NACHTMYSTIUM Founder Denies Split, Offers Explanation

Blake Judd of NACHTMYSTIUM denies reports that the group has disbanded, now claiming that a new studio album will arrive before the end of the year on Century Media Records. Can metal fans trust these claims? After all, Judd is in NACHTMYSTIUM.

To recap what was previously reported yesterday, NACHTMYSTIUM parted ways with longtime guitarist Andrew Markuszewski and synth player/audio specialist Sanford Parker (CORRECTIONS HOUSE) and subsequently cancelled all of its upcoming shows. Metal Méan, a Belgian festival broadcasted via Facebook that NACHTMYSTIUM had decided to “bring the band to a state of hiatus.” In an interview Judd revealed, “HATE MEDITATION is my main focus currently as NACHTMYSTIUM is on somewhat of a hiatus for the time being.”

Judd posted a response on his personal Facebook page following numerous reports from metal news sites stating that NACHTMYSTIUM was calling it quits: “Some metal news sites have reported today that NACHTMYSTIUM has either ‘broken up’ or is on ‘indefinite hiatus’. Neither of these things are true. The band has gone through some personnel changes in the last few months and I’ve made the decision to cancel all of our summer tour / festival plans while the band regroups. Instead of touring, we will be writing and recording our next full-length album in the coming months, to be released on Century Media worldwide sometime in late 2013. Also, we have pulled our Facebook page offline to revise and update it (giving it a full overhaul with new photos from the past and the present, scans of interviews from magazines throughout the band’s 13 years of existence, etc.) … For the last time and for the record, NACHTMYSTIUM has NOT disbanded and is only on a hiatus in regards to playing shows.”

Judd confessed more: “I am also personally addressing the issues of orders that have been made to us in the last year where the item(s) purchased were not received, particularly the ‘Live Onslaught’ cassettes — which were to be manufactured via a company suggested to us by our manager at the time (who’s name I will be kind enough not to mention, as much as I’d like to) who took our money to have the cassettes made, claims to have sent the tapes to press and then for the following six months offered us story and after story of where these tapes were.” Skeptics and fans alike weigh in: “Why not name him?” Another writes, “You’re a good guy, Blake” while a NACHTMYSTIUM follower shares, “Your return will be better.”

NACHTMYSTIUM’s sixth album “Silencing Machine”, was released in July 2012 via Century Media Records.
