BEATEN TO DEATH Working On New Album

Monday, 16th June 2014

Norwegian grindcore innovators BEATEN TO DEATH are writing material for their third as-yet-untitled studio album, tentatively due for release in late 2014. The recordings for the follow-up to 2013’s second album, Dodsfest!, will start next month – July, and as usual it will be entirely recorded and mixed by the band at their rehearsal room.

Here’s what bassist Mika Martinussen had to say about this new album: “Third time’s a charm; BEATEN TO DEATH will record the follow-up to Dodsfest! in July, because – let’s face it – we’re not getting any younger, and ground-breaking records in the grindcore genre don’t record and release themselves! As usual, the recording will take place over the course of a few days at the bands rehearsal space, and the recording and mixing will – for better or worse (almost certainly worse) – be taken care of by the band itself. Approximately one third of the songs needed to fill an album’s worth of their trademark brew of catchy and brutal grind is already written, and it seems the band of brothers still have something to offer to those with an open mind, willing to lend an ear and join in on the fun. In the meantime, to endure the wait for new material, please feel free to enjoy this filmed-using-a-mounted-GoPro-excerpt from the bands recent gig with Melt-Banana in Oslo, featuring seven songs from both Xes And Strokes and Dødsfest!.”

As mentioned above, BEATEN TO DEATH recently played with Japanese experimental noise rock maestros Melt Banana at Revolver Bar in Oslo and you can now watch part of the show below:
