KING PARROT Inks Deal With Agonia Records

Thursday, 12th March 2015

Agonia Records has announced the signing of the Australian one-of-a-kind thrash metal/grindcore/punk entity, KING PARROT. Hailing from Melbourne, the band released their debut album Bite Your Head Off in 2012, which gained high praise for its stand-out musical performance layered with black humour and nowadays rare, yet unique creativity. King Parrot’s upcoming new album was recorded by Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) in Nodferatu’s Lair Studio and is set to land this spring via Agonia Records in Europe, Housecore Records in North America and Rocket/EVP in Australia.

On the new deal, the band commented: “Everyone at King Parrot is excited at the prospect of working with Agonia Records for Europe. We’ve heard nothing but excellent reports from other acts on their label and believe partnering with them in Europe will see us hit the territory more often. They believe in the band, and with this new album containing our best work to date, we want to spend a lot of time touring in Europe. We are currently undertaking our first Europe tour now, and getting a great response, so when this new album comes out we hope to be here a whole lot more! Bring it on!”

Emerging through the baptism of fire of the Australian metal scene, King Parrot have pillaged their way to international recognition in a short period since 2011. Drawing influence primarily from the thrash, grind, hardcore and punk scenes of the 80’s and 90’s, a new sound was created fusing those styles and attitudes with a fresh approach that encapsulates their aggression, humour and intensity seamlessly.

The debut album Bite Your Head Off was picked up by Candlelight Records in 2013 for worldwide release. Five videos from their debut album have been produced including “Shit on the Liver”; a finalist in the Australian Music Video Awards and the bands take on the legendary horror film The Shining for the track “Dead End”.

After a solid 12 months on the road solidifying the bands presence in their homeland in 2013, King Parrot were invited to perform at SXSW in Texas in March of 2014. They coupled this with an extensive 45-date North American tour, which saw them land a management deal with Extreme Management Group in New York. They’ve since under taken a further three North American tours alongside Down, Orange Goblin and Origin, as well as appearing at the Housecore Horrorfest in Austin, Texas.

Drawing praise from the likes of Phil Anselmo, Max Cavalera and Chuck Billy, it’s easy to see why King Parrot is making a name for themselves. They’ve solidified themselves at the top of the heap of Australian metal bands after scoring spot on the 2015 Soundwave Festival line-up, and their first European tour is coming in March. With a sound and live performance they can uniquely call their own, King Parrot are excited to deliver a new album in 2015 and take it to the next level.

King Parrot has been on the road ever since the release of their debut and 2015 proves no different. Known to be a frenzied and furious live experience, the five-piece outfit is currently finishing their 10-date live run with Weedeater in Europe. Shortly after, King Parrot will revisit the US for a second leg of the tour.
