IRON MAIDEN To Finish European Tour With Show In London

Saturday, 15th June 2013

inger Bruce Dickinson of British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN announced earlier tonight (Saturday, June 15) to 90,000 fans at Download festival at Donington Park in Leicestershire, United Kingdom that MAIDEN will round off the current 30-date European leg of its “Maiden England” world tour in London with a show at the O2 Arena on Saturday, August 3.

Comments Bruce: “We’ve all been having such a fantastic time on this tour. From the very first show in North America last year to the European dates we’ve done so far, it’s just been tremendous fun. Our fans have been brilliant as usual, and seem to be loving the setlist and the stage production! So we thought that because this tour has been such an amazing experience for band and fans alike, it somehow seems right to finish up back home in England and have the final show celebration on home-turf. The O2 is a great venue to play with a really fantastic vibe, so we’re really looking forward to this show being one almighty party!”

IRON MAIDEN wishes to ensure that fans get fair and proper access to tickets and do not pay over the actual ticket price by way of touts or the secondary ticketing agencies and therefore this concert will be totally ticketless (paperless) ticketing using the latest technology.

Ticketless (paperless) ticketing means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the intended original sale price. On the day of show, concertgoers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and a government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser’s party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue’s ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show.

Andy Copping, senior vice president of music at Live Nation U.K., comments: “MAIDEN, their management Phantom Music, the O2 and my team at Live Nation have really tried to ensure that fans can buy tickets at a fair and agreed price for the forthcoming U.K. show at the O2 by utilizing ticketless (paperless) ticketing technology throughout the whole venue. The aim is to ensure fair access for true fans and to eradicate ticket tout issues and inflated secondary market prices that can also lead to a reduction of the number of obtainable tickets at the on sale not being available to fans.”

MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood adds: “We are all very pleased to round off this part of the tour back home to celebrate and it promises to be a great night. We used ticketless (paperless) ticketing on our North American tours in 2010 and 2012 and it worked extremely well and we received many positive comments back from our fans. With ticketless (paperless) ticketing, only those who actually pay initially for the tickets will get into the show so scalping is generally avoided. We are also doing everything we can to avoid any drain of tickets going to the secondary ticketing sites, which we feel make unfair profits from music fans and often lessen the number of tickets available to real fans, especially at the on-sale.

“Finally, we are, of course, once again arranging exclusive ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets. We will also continue to run the draw for fan club members so they can be ‘First To The Barrier’ prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible and ask that they keep checking for details on our web site.”

Following the O2, IRON MAIDEN will take a short break before playing North America, then Latin American stadiums and the Rock In Rio festival in September, and will finish the tour off with a return to the Estadio Nacional in Chile on October 2.

Tickets go on general sale Friday, June 28 from TheO2.co.uk and AXS.com. There will be an IRON MAIDEN fan club presale — Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25.
